Hey Sounder,

I'm glad you liked the Great Galactic Ghoul 'lifestyle' piece, "Bad Sex Tips From A Fond Ghoul." My friend, I.C., irresponsibly encouraged me to put it up for a few days, so that others could read it. It was originally just an e-mail sent to him with the hope that it would cheer him up during an especially trying time in his life.

I can't say I'm on board with you if you think of daimons as demons. After scrolling through your blog, however, I think I got a better notion of what you were alluding to when you referred to Satan (or Ahriman) and Lucifer as being God's necessary helpers. It reminded me of Rudolph Steiner's views on how we're all drifting between the polarity of Ahrimanic and Luciferic modes of being while we're incarnated here on earth—which I first ran across while reading Daniel Pinchbeck's Breaking Open The Head. And if that sounds confusing, it is.... Sorry. I don't have Pinchbeck's book handy to quote from, and I'd probably sound like an idiot trying to summarize Steiner's views here (I tried doing something like that in a review of Pinchbeck's 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl HERE and yes, I did indeed sound like an idiot. Oh well...).

I was also reminded of an interview with Norman Mailer that I read recently. In it, Mailer was talking about his views on God, and he said something to the effect that when we work with great energy, God and the devil are are battling within us to manifest something of a spiritual nature in the material world. Whether we land on the side of God or the devil depends upon our basic nature, built up over many incarnations (I'm paraphrasing like hell here, you must realize...). Mailer described his God as an overextended, less than All-Powerful God—much more like the True God of the Gnostics, as opposed to the jealous Christian God of the Old Testament. So for Norman Mailer (and for you and me as well, in our own humble ways), writing is a spiritual battleground. And if you find you have the energy for writing, it might be because God (or the devil) has something for you to say.

Fun to think about, isn't it?

Derek, excellent riff on G3's 'lifestyle'.

Your take on Daimons is similar to mine, as I consider that Satan and Lucifer are Gods necessary helpers. These morphic resonance entanglement patterns will be reshaped (by us) and thereby redeemed.
